The materials needed for the job are cardboard and tape.

I made the main body of the pattern by tracing and cutting out
the pedal and lever holes.
I aligned the pattern with the lever and pedals and taped it in place.
I laid on smaller pieces that fit the outer edges of the floor
and taped them to the main body of the pattern.
I aligned the pattern with the mat's pedal and lever holes
and trimmed off the pieces of mat that stuck out.
Mat installed and ready to go. I didn't have to trim off very much.
