I happened to be visiting Brother
Mike when Saint George's Day came around, and we went to an English
pub in San Pedro in Mike's English car. An interesting quirk
of the Rolls is that the battery is under the trunk.

With downtown parking a high-priced
nightmare, you don't drive to Los Angeles if you don't have to.
You go to the free parking garage near a trolley line and ride
downtown. The price is cheap, especially for geezers. Here a
train on the Blue Line is arriving at the Willow Street station
in Long Beach.

North Broadway is a good shopping
area. I was able to find a couple of the shirts I wanted, and
all the CD's on my shopping list. The area is like New York a
century ago, with signs in both English and Spanish.

Grand Central Market is a North
Broadway tradition.

El Pollo Loco started as a small
Mexican company and became a very successful chain in the USA.

Tony Quinn is wearing in this picture?

The main city library at the end
of Hope Street, once considered pretty big, now looks tiny among
the towers.

Union Station is one of the subway
stops. Whenever I visit the place I remember Jack Benny going
there to catch the train to New York. He always had a run-in
with Frank Nelson as the ticket agent. "Yyyyessss?"

Waiting for another ride on the
Blue Line.

Here's another kind of trolley
ride. The Port of Los Angeles operates this Red Car line in San
Pedro as a tourist attraction.
